About Chef Sasha

Chef Sasha Grumman was raised in a dynamic Sicilian family in Southern California. After graduating from Kenyon College in Ohio, she moved home and fell in love with cooking. In hopes of pursuing her new found passion, she signed up for culinary school. She chose the Italian Culinary Academy offered through the French Culinary Institute in New York City, which also took her to Italy. She spent three months at ALMA culinary school in Parma, Italy and staged at the Michelin-starred Giuda Ballerino in Rome. She graduated at the top of her class and moved to San Francisco to work at Delfina Restaurant.

After working at Delfina, she continued to cook for top chefs all over the country. Hard Water, Aziza, Cockscomb, Aatxe, Union and Launderette were highlights of her career, from San Francisco to Los Angeles to Austin. She then landed in Houston as the Executive Chef of the C. Baldwin Hotel. Throughout the pandemic, she worked for organizations such as the Southern Smoke Foundation, World Central Kitchen and started her very own focaccia business, called Sasha’s Focaccia. Airing in 2021, she was also a contestant on the 18th season of the hit Bravo TV show, Top Chef, which helped catapult her career forward. Also, in the fall of 2021, she spent 2 months in Tuscany honing her farm to table philosophy as a Chef in Residence at Villa Lena.

Since landing in Houston in 2019, Chef Sasha’s talents have been recognized by many nominations and magazine articles. The most notable being: Rising Star Chef in 2019 by CultureMapHouston, Best Pop Up/Start up in 2021 by CultureMap Houston, and voted Top 5 Culinary Hustlers in 2021 by HoustoniaMagazine. 

Currently, Chef Sasha owns and operates SASS Hospitality, which includes private chef services, hosting private dinners for clients in their homes, traveling with her clients, running point on large corporate events, also consulting for restaurants across the country and more!
